Jobcymru.com is a useful resource for teachers and tutors in local educational establishments as it provides general information on local labour market trends in Wales and profiles of specific local employers within 4 different sectors (Manufacturing, Sales, Tourism & Services)
When to use the site?
- Integrate it into your Careers Education Programme with KS4, Year 12/13/college students either by downloading suitable information for use in lessons or by conducting an online careers session (see the information below on the Jobs Directory tasks)
- To identify suitable employers for Education Business Link activities
- For use as a cross curricular tool for instance in Geography, Welsh, Technology, IT & with GNVQ or AVCE students

The JobCymru Companies Database can be searched using:
Keywords – possible searches:
- Company name
- Types of companies e.g. Accountants, Hotels, Garages, Factories. Try singular and plural forms e.g. accountant and accountants
- Skills and attributes that employers value e.g. Communication, Honesty
- Type of work experience offered e.g. Year 10, all ages, FE college, Year 12
- Training offered e.g. NVQs, in-house, apprenticeships
- Geographical area
Category – companies are split into 4 categories
- Leisure & Tourism – attractions, hotels, cafes, sports venues
- Manufacturing – clothes, windows, food
- Service – builders, accountants, hairdressers, solicitors, councils, vets, banks
- Sales – Shops, garages, builder’s merchants
Position – search for companies offering a specific job title e.g. Chef, Fitter, Accountant
Many of you may already be familiar with the paper version of the jobcymru (Gorwelion) Jobs Directory, as schools have been using it as a classroom resource for several years in conjunction with the Gorwelion Jobs Directory Tasks (a series of lesson plans based around the Directory). The Companies database on this site is the updated online version of the Gorwelion Jobs Directories based on the same format and informational content. The website has recently developed and expanded to cover new areas of Wales and jobcymru intends to carry on expanding and provide a full picture of the Local Labour Markets of Wales.
The Directory Tasks have been updated and are in line with new developments in Careers and Education.
