Job Search
You can search for jobs in the database in different ways:
Job title if you know the title of the job you would like e.g. Accountant, Builder, Technician, Translator, just type it into the search field and you will be able to search through the database.
Keywords - for example
- Type of work e.g. Translation, Building, Media
- Name of company
- Key skills
Industry the companies have been divided in to four categories:
- Leisure & Tourism attractions, hotels, cafes, sports venues
- Manufacturing clothes, windows, food
- Service builders, accountants, hairdressers, solicitors, councils, vets, banks
- Sales Shops, garages, builders merchants
Location Choose a location from the list or leave the section empty to see jobs from all over Wales.
Salary Choose the salary range from the list to see what jobs are available for each salary band.
Use of Welsh the jobs have been categorised according to the level of Welsh needed to carry out the work.
- No use of Welsh
- Use amongst the workforce
- Use verbally with customers
- Considerable use, including administration work
- Majority of the work through the medium of Welsh
By contract - Choose from the different contract options to find a job that suits you. The four options available are:
- Permanent
- Contract
- Temporary
- Part time
Company Search
You can search for companies in the database in different ways:
Keywords - possible searches:
- Company name
- Types of companies e.g. Accountants, Hotels, Garages, Factories. Try singular and plural forms e.g. accountant and accountants.
- Skills and attributes that employers value e.g. Communication, Honesty
- Training offered e.g. NVQs, in-house
Category - companies are split into 4 categories
- Leisure & Tourism attractions, hotels, cafes, sports venues
- Manufacturing clothes, windows, food
- Service builders, accountants, hairdressers, solicitors, councils, vets, banks
- Sales Shops, garages, builders merchants
You can search the category most relevant to you
Position search for companies offering a specific job title e.g. Chef, Fitter, Accountant
Just input your search and wait to see which companies come up. You can then look at the details of all these companies or pick and choose!
Top Tips for Job Searching!
- Many jobs arent advertised so its worth contacting companies direct. You could do this by sending a CV & letter, phoning up or calling in person. This is called speculative applications. You could use the jobcymru Companies Database to find suitable employers to approach
- Use your contacts! It is worth asking friends, family, previous work mates, in fact anyone you know if they have heard of any suitable jobs that might be going. This is called Networking
- Always find out as much as you can about a company before you apply for a job, especially before you have an interview! Check to see if particular employers are included in the JobCymru Companies Database.
