Imaginet cleans up at Bilingual Design Awards

5 August 2002

For the first time ever, two companies were successful in one of the Board's awards, with both Portmeirion and Food Wales winning the new media award for their respective websites. Both sites were designed by Imaginet of Cardiff.

The internet and CD Roms are both exciting developments, enabling small rural business to compete directly with large organisations and national companies through the PC, and the new media competition takes its place well in the Welsh Language Board Bilingual Design Awards scheme.

The award, sponsored by Camelot, was given for creative and attractive use of Welsh and English on a promotional CD Rom, multimedia presentation or website.

Imaginet were placed on the shortlist with three different websites, and company MD, Nigel Roberts said: “I am thrilled that Imaginet has won this award. Support for the Welsh language is vital to our business, and our success in this year’s competition, with three of the six short listed websites being designed by Imaginet, is a great reward and acknowledgement of our commitment to create high quality bilingual website.”

Welsh Language Board Chair, Rhodri Williams, added: "The two winning sites were excellent examples of bilingual design on the internet. It is easy to change from one language to the other throughout the sites and the designs are clear and very attractive."
