Background
WJEC, previously known as the Welsh Joint Education Committee, provides examinations, assessment, professional development, educational resources and support for adults who wish to learn Welsh and access to youth arts activities. It also provides examinations throughout England.
The organisation required a new web solution that would increase sales of their educational resources and improve services for all audiences ranging from students, through to teachers and examiners.
Solution
With extensive content and products available, Imaginet took time to ensure the information architecture on the site was perfect so that different users can find content of interest quickly. Key features include:
- A core CMS was augmented with a variety of databases such as Documents, Qualifications and Courses.
- Each of these are inter-related throughout the site so that if a person is looking at a certain piece of content, the related documents and courses will be available as links on the right hand side, improving a user's experience on the site
- An on-line shop holds several thousand products from the WJEC, so the search facility had to be easy to use, but effective
- Imaginet's shopping basket and secure checkout system handles all sales and reduced shopping cart abandonment by making the process as simple as possible
